M.E. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Degree Offered – The Virginia Engineering Online distance learning graduate degree offered by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is a Master of Engineering (ME) in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The purpose of the masters degree program is to strengthen and extend undergraduate training and competence. This extension is achieved through coursework for the Master of Engineering degree.
Admission Requirements – Requirements for admission to the MAE Master of Engineering program are the same as those for the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Master of Engineering students are not considered for financial aid.
Course Requirements – Each Master of Engineering student’s Program of Study must include at least 30 semester hours of approved graduate engineering coursework. Of these, at least 15 semester hours must be taken from the University of Virginia and at least 18 must either be MAE courses (offered by the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department) or must be substantially similar to courses offered in the department (similarity to be determined by petition to the MAE graduate studies committee). Students should be in regular communication with their advisor to discuss their course plans and degree progress. Students are expected to refer to their SIS Academic Requirements report regularly for official degree progress verification and details on remaining coursework required for the degree.
