Can I receive university credit or a transcript for UVA Coursera courses?
UVA's Coursera courses are not official courses at the University, but rather are courses created by UVA faculty in which you can earn a Coursera certificate. To learn more about Coursera certificates, please see Coursera's page on Course Certificates. Coursera certificates do not represent university credit or continuing education units from UVA and do not come with a UVA transcript.
What is the difference between taking a course through Coursera for UVA and taking a course through the main Coursera site?
Coursera for UVA gives free access to Coursera courses that you would have to pay for if you accessed through the main Coursera website. To login to the Coursera for UVA program, you will use your Virginia NetBadge account credentials. The course experience is the same if you sign up for a course through Coursera for UVA or the main Coursera website.
Can I still take UVA Coursera online courses if I am not a UVA student, staff or faculty member?
Yes! Please go to Coursera where you can see all the courses and Specializations produced by the University of Virginia. You will need to have an account on Coursera to participate in any courses. Coursera does offer financial aid if there is a financial need.
